I hired an Editor

Something that didn't get mentioned in the last few days, because of all the Amazon issues: I hired an editor. I had Vegas Rules edited first, and put that up yesterday. She's now going through Black Friday, and then I'll have her go through each of the stories, in order.

Book number 8 is in process, I'm about 6K words into it currently, and with all of the issues resolved, I'm now free to focus on that a lot more. Book 8 will be completed and released sometime this month. Most of the plot for it is done, so it's just a matter of writing it. I'll have a date when it's a bit further along.

    1. I too have this series, though it seems like I have read scraps before? I am looking forward to seeing what happens next. Will Amazon have a pre-order option this time?

    2. Pre-orders depend on when I get the story done, mostly. I'm very cautious about using the pre-order feature, because if you make one mistake, you get into a tremendous amount of trouble with Amazon.
If I'm too close to the 'release target' that I'm working towards, I don't do a pre-order, to avoid such errors.

    3. Hey I was wondering if you know when or if book 5 & 6 are going to be released on Audible?

  2. That is interesting looking guitar. I am not a musician so any guitar is interesting to me.

    1. It's a headless bass, with a smaller body that's pretty much a copy of the Steinberger bass (and guitar) that came out in the late 70's.

I built it, because I wanted something smaller to take with me when I fly places, so I'd have something to practice or play, that was a lot easier to pack. Originally I was going to just buy one, but nobody around here sells them, and building my own was a fair amount cheaper. As well as more fun.

  3. That is awesome that you've engaged an editor (I ran across this post-link on Amazon, as I'm thinking of getting the whole series), should I wait to purchase (Kindle) till they've been edited?

    1. I've got #2 and #3 back and have yet to update (#1 and #7 have been updated already), as I'm writing #8 right now, I haven't gotten to them yet. The editor just started work on #4, which leaves #5 and #6 to go. Right now I figure that they'll all be updated by sometime next week.

As for waiting for them all to be edited, I guess that depends on how much grammar bothers you. They aren't really all that bad, but there are a few issues here and there, mostly minor. There really haven't been that many complaints.

    2. There shouldn't be many issues. I just went through #7 for the third time and only found one sentence that would not parse well (a stray 'not'). I am eagerly awaiting #8. I have been following you since the 1st Portals of Infinity book and I love your stuff. ;)

    3. I went ahead and bought the set (just finished Vegas Rules), they seemed pretty clean to me, spelling and grammar-wise. Mostly what I noticed was what a great story it is. Great work!!! I loved Portals of Infinity (Book 1), too.
