Just finished the first Draft

So I just finished the first draft of book 17 - No Regrets.
I have to send it to my beta readers, as well as re-read it myself. I also need to commission the cover.
Once I have it ready to go, I am planning on writing a few short stories that I'll release as well. Those will be to answer some questions and cover some things not covered in the book.

This was a tough one to write for a number of reasons, I think it took me all day to just write the last thousand words. But that's how it is sometimes I guess.

  1. So is this the last book in the series? Are you really wrapping it up here?

    1. Yup. I don't like series that never end, and this series was never intended to go past 18. As the second arc ended up being 5 books instead of 6, that brought it down to 17.

I may write a follow on series. I've got most of the groundwork already laid for it. But I need to take a break and write a few other things first. If people are still interested after I do that, I'll come back to it. I'm just still kind of surprised that I actually wrote a 17 book long series.

    2. Lolz. It's bittersweet that you say that, because I totally agree with you. MOST series (all plot driven series actually) should have an ending. A PLOTTED ending. Series get sad when such things are forgotten. But I will miss Sean and his ridiculousness.

  2. We will want to read it. Believe me... We will still be interested.

    1. I'll finish that veilverse book first as it's already halfway done. Then I'll do POI.

  4. Apologies, Mr. Stryvant, if you've already spoken to this, but I wondered if there's any word on when volumes 15 and 16 will be available on Audible? I've thoroughly enjoyed the entire series as Kindle books, and (via a complimentary subscription) found that the Audible format was indeed a very pleasant way to enjoy these books all over again. Really looking forward to having the complete series in both formats.

I also want to add my voice to those who have thanked you for your efforts in creating The Valens Legacy. I knew Black Friday was excellent, but never expected to get to the point where I was checking - nearly every day - for the next volume's release. Concluding the series will be gratifying, as so few of the series I've really gotten interested in have wrapped up in a planned fashion. In all honesty, though, I echo Matthew's sentiment about missing Sean and the denizens of his world. You've painted an incredible picture on a richly detailed canvas, and it'll be great (as well as a bit saddening) to see it completed.

    1. They last said that it should be on the schedule to be recorded this fall. So I'm hoping to hear something here shortly.

  5. So is what happened to Zack from the first couple of books explained?

    1. Yup. He even gets a cameo. What happened to Zack in the books is the same as what happened to the guy in Real Life who inspired the character of Zack.

Only that guy's character -never- died in the game. He'd have us all on the floor laughing with the insane stuff he'd do, and he got away with it every time. Great player.

  6. I agree that bringing Sean’s story to a conclusion is something to look forward to, but I will miss the well fleshed out ensemble of characters you have created. I’m hoping that in a year or so, we will be blessed( dog whistle NOT intended) with stories starring Alex, Stewart, Steve, Sawyer and the rest.
