Seriously, that's what I live for, for you, my readers, to enjoy yourselves and have a good time. To have fun. I have also found that most of the truly good authors I know all feel the saw way: They just want you to have a good time.
Which is why it makes me smile every time someone tells me they enjoyed one of my books. (Course getting paid to do this makes it even better).

ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying your books sense longer then I can remember. Starting with the Children of Steel. I have to tell you the mini-rant in the 'Warning' of Mihalis almost made me put your works down. Compare Children of Steel's cat in heat aboard the ship or Portals of Infinities William first meeting the queen on the alter scenes to now. It was more sexy by leaving things to the imagination, and were much more interesting.
It was funny, not in the tiniest bit shy, and was character development in their own rough, interesting ways. It built story. Moments like that are lost for what is effectively soft core porn replacing it more and more. I simply skip over those pages (it did go from 'page' to 'pages'. It's almost up to chapters now.) and have zero feeling I missed out on anything in the book there. That's not a good sign in writing.
I think you've lost something that used to be enjoyed. I look forward to the next books I think though.
People wanted the sex scenes. So I had to start writing them. As it is, now I get 'dinged' because I 'write so few' of them in my books. Most of the big sellers out there now are more porn than story.
DeleteIf I were to stop writing the sex scenes in the Stryvant books, I'd lose about 90 percent of my sales. And, as I said, I get complaints that there aren't enough now, and the few books I 'cut back' I got a lot of complaints as well.
I think I can grasp your dilemma. I did pick a very odd hill to wave my flag on. Like I implied if I don't like it I can just skip right over it and keep going. ;) Heh, I'm not going to melt. I'll still miss the story of characters just being characters without the page flipping.

You can’t please everyone with sex scenes. I like the ones you put in, but I enjoy the book more. I really enjoy your character development overall.

ReplyDeleteDude Mihalis was awesome man!! i loved it especially since we got follow sean and the girls first for like 19 books and then follow there children! not many authors do it this way and i think its a sad there isnt more! 10 out of 5 stars Keep it up !
