Started
typing again last night. I have limited use of the left hand, but it'll
improve with time. Valens #15, tentatively titled 'Firestarter' will be
out this month, it's already halfway done after all.
The big question is will the working title make it thru to publishing. They've got a 70 percent success rate...

ReplyDeleteI'll second this question
DeleteI think you need to check your grammar “Ideer”
DeleteJuly sometime, will post when i get a date.
DeleteYeah for July. Currently I use the kindle text to speech option to read the book to me while I work. It sounds acceptable but still I much prefer the audio-books.
DeleteGet well soon.
just take it easy and dont over stress your left hand ok.
ReplyDeleteTake care of your arm, If rather have to wait a bit than not have more stories to read.seems like a couple more of my fav's are MIA.
ReplyDeleteWhen I had wrist surgery, I used voice typing. I'd recommend trying it, windows has built in or there's nuance dragon naturally speaking software. Watch when you edit later, but it helped me.
ReplyDeleteI assume that you know the following, but for those that might not, ammunition types for the .50 cal Browning M2 heavy barrel machine gun is color coded by markings on the tip of the bullet. Armor-piercing Incendiary is marked by all aluminum or aluminum at the tip with a band of blue below the aluminum. Armor-piercing incendiary tracer is marked by aluminum at the tip with a red band below.
ReplyDeleteMy assumption is that the armor-piercing quality is what is getting through any body armor a demon is wearing, while the incendiary part is what is killing them (demons having been shown to be harmed by heat/fire). The phosphorus that causes the tracer effect would add to the damage as well as aid in keeping the firing on target. Off hand, I don't know how many 'regular' rounds there were per tracer.
When I was in the Navy, we were trained to limit our bursts to five rounds each because of the heat generated in the barrel. If you fired off an entire 110 round container (containing one belt) in one long burst, there was enough heat generated that the barrel would start to sag. When the barrel starts to sag, accuracy begins to fall off.
I thought it was implied that the iron in the old ammunition was what caused the damage.
DeleteSome of the armor-piercing bullets have hardened steel or manganese molybdenum steel cores (steel being iron with a bit of carbon that makes it steel). Jan has created a world where magic, demons and lycans exist, so who knows what those things have changed? Ultimately, it's Jan's call...artistic license. If he wants iron cores, that's how it is. An interesting side note...check out DARPA's EXACTO progarm (a guided bullet)!
ReplyDeleteI had wondered what was going on. I kept checking for the next book, looking at past releases and like "should be putting one out any day now...not even a preorder available..." I'm glad to hear you are on the mend, take your time. We eagerly await your next release
