The arm needs surgery

Just a brief update. Doctor says I need surgery. The particular type he doesn't do very often so he's sending me to another surgeon who performs it regularly. Hopefully I'll see them early next week and we can get this scheduled. It isn't cheap, and I won't be able to use my left arm for anything for about two months. Maybe longer.

Yeah, this has been an interesting year so far.

  5. My sympathy. I had a bicep repair on my right arm a few years ago, and it went well. While the locking brace they put on my arm to limit stress on the repair was a hassle, after about two weeks, they had increased the range of extension to the point where I could type again.

One suggestion: if the anesthesiologist offers a subclavian block post surgery, take them up on it- I had no pain for the first 24 hours as a result. Does turn your arm into a 20 pound inert weight for that period as well, but the fact that you avoid the worst of the post operative pain well worth the weird experience of having partial paralysis.

    Best of luck.

  6. Sympathies, and wishes to get and feel better soon. So now I'm going to be the selfish, insensitive, but caring bastard. I've been through what your are going through, but with my right leg, the leg you need to drive and commute to work. In a few weeks things will get just enough better to drive you crazy. I can't make any suggestions for how to deal with baking cookies, but if you feel the creative itch to put word to page, look into one one of the speech recognition softwares, slow but more effective than one-handed pecking. So, yeah, that's why I'm a bastard, a sucker for your writing, VL and POI the most. Oh, and maybe a little intrigued with the BC/WDA cross-over. That being said, take care of your self first...

  7. I hate waiting for new books but you have to take care of yourself first, plus you will have more time to let new plots percolate in your mind while healing up.

  8. I REALLY want the next book RIGHT NOW!!!! HOWEVER if that means no more books after that or worse you lose the arm, then i am willing to wait for awhile longer

  9. I hope the surgery goes well. As an aside, in plans on when the next Valens book comes out? At this point I would be willing to take dictation.
